Prosperous Health Holdings was founded in
response to the rising demand of elderly care and retirement services.
Our vision is to lead elderly care by consolidating the industry and offering all retirement, health care and wellness related services under a single roof.
Governed by a board of professionals with more than 120 years combined experience in the healthcare sector, our holistic approach means maximum value is offered to the resident – at an affordable price – without the ubiquitous insane levies so common in such establishments.
We are flexible in approach, working with greenfield projects or existing retirement villages.
- Greenfield projects allow us the opportunity to optimize the layout of the
retirement village – plus essential frail care facilities – which serves to ease the usually prohibitive cost element of said frail and homebased care.
- Our partnership participation is detailed and comprehensive. It ranges from fully committed equity partners (with PHH committing equity finance), to
- a) assisting with raising capital
- b) securing guarantees owning and operating the health care facility, or
- c) just as operators.
- For existing retirement villages we bring PPH’s expertise and holistic approach to bear on the daily running of operations. In so doing we extend additional services to residents, such as home based care and wellness services, plus purchasing the health care facility.
The magic of this approach is that these operations are centralised, run ‘under one roof’, making it more affordable to run, all the way down the pipeline.

Founder:
Alex Ely
Alex Ely is a serial entrepreneur who was first exposed to the business world through trading financial markets, after which he founded his first company called Goon Valley Animation. This experience led to him founding Prosperous Health Holdings.
Chairman:
Helgardt Lindes
With over 20 years’ experience in finance, Helgardt has served as CFO for multibillion rand companies such as Barclays Africa Wealth and PSG Konsult.
CFO:
Paul Austin
Paul has a broad range of experience, comprising over 37 years in corporate finance, law, auditing, accounting and tax. His track record includes working for global top 10 accounting firms such as BDO and Mazars.
Memory Care Expert:
Professor Daniel Niehaus
A psychiatric professor who has sub-specialised as a geriatric psychiatrist since 2012, Daniel is one of the leading geriatrics and dementia experts in South Africa. During his 30 years of experience, he has managed female acute services at Stikland Hospital as well as served as a director at Utilitas.
E.C Nursing Expert:
Sister Lee
Sr Lee boasts an immense 30 years’ experience, in which time she has been responsible for the a) holistic management of the entire spectrum of design, building, managing and maintaining 297 hospital beds b) caring for the elderly c) and focusing on the emotional, physical and psychological wellbeing of a thousand assisted-living retirees (for the FairCape Group).
Legal Expert:
Shivani Singh
Shivani has over 15 years’ experience working as an M&A lawyer for Aspen Pharmacare Holdings, a JSE listed company, and Bowmans. Her areas of expertise include licensing, pharmaceutical development, manufacturing, supply, distribution, technology, marketing and sales, service level agreements and transition agreements.
